Bio:

Scott Payne was born and raised in Maple Ridge. Scott attended Simon Fraser University, completing a Bachelor of Arts in History in 2011. He then attended law school at the University of British Columbia.

During Scott’s time at the University of British Columbia, he assisted aspiring real estate licensees as a Law Tutor at the Sauder School of Business. He also volunteered with the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program, providing free legal services to low-income clients.
Scott completed law school in the spring of 2015 and joined CBM Lawyers that summer as an articled student. He was called to the bar in spring 2016.

Although Scott is a general litigator who advises and represents his clients in court in relation to various matters, he has particular experience in the following areas:

  • Estate litigation;
  • Committeeship;
  • Employment law;
  • Residential tenancy disputes; and
  • Property disputes relating to the Partition of Property Act.

Scott enjoys reading history books and classics, jogging around the Lower Mainland and playing squash. However, Scott’s main source of cardio is chasing after his young son, James.  

Scott also volunteers as a director of the Langley Community Music School
