Bio:

Jim MacLean has over thirty-five years’ experience as a solicitor.  His practice emphasizes business law, but also extends to most aspects of a general solicitor’s practice including estate planning and real estate.  

Mr. MacLean was born and raised in Victoria, B.C., and received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1974 from the University of Victoria.  He obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1981, and was called to the British Columbia bar in 1982.

He practiced with a leading law firm in Prince George, B.C from 1981 until 1985, when he was recruited by a specialty business/ tax firm in downtown Vancouver. In 1990 he became a partner of another Vancouver business law firm where he continued to practice until 1999, when he decided to relocate his practice and residence to the Fraser Valley.  He practiced with another Langley firm until June of 2018, when he joined CBM lawyers as an independent counsel.

Mr. MacLean has extensive experience in the areas of business law, estate planning and real estate.  He has represented clients in the financial, forestry, mining, greenhouse, energy, manufacturing, aviation, trucking, gaming and retail sectors.  He has also represented Japanese, German and American firms in connection with their interests in B.C. projects, and has assisted several First Nations in structuring joint ventures.
