About Byron McCarthy
Born and raised in the Lower Mainland, Byron McCarthy has brought a unique perspective and deep-rooted commitment to the Fraser Valley community. Prior to pursuing his career in law, Byron spent 18 years working in various locations around Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley with Canada Safeway, including a long tenure at the Safeway at Willowbrook.
During this time, Byron returned to academia to complete his bachelor’s degree, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of the Fraser Valley in 2008. His academic excellence was recognized with numerous awards, including a Students’ Union Scholarship, a Board Scholarship, and the prestigious Board of Governors Outstanding Achievement Award.
Byron continued his academic pursuits at the University of British Columbia Law School (“UBC Law”), graduating in 2013. While at UBC Law, he made significant contributions through volunteering with the Law Students Legal Advice Program and the Conflict Resolution Program, assisting low-income individuals in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley.
Byron is actively involved in the community, having served as Vice Chair of the Canadian Bar Association – Family Law (Fraser Valley) from 2017 to 2018. He is also a board member of the Langley Animal Protection Society (LAPS), reflecting his commitment to giving back to the community.
